Dear Friends,
I am a user of 3 months old Toshiba Mini 300 Series NB305-N310 10.1-Inch Netbook - Black Onyx. after three months. the laptop started acting funny. The hinges of the screen and the base have a problem and the tension looses it and fall the lid. Upon contacting the customer care of Toshiba. they said, it is a known issue and they will replace it. The replacement cost is $15 for shipment and the repair charges of another $60.
The next issue of this net book is touchpad, the touch pad of this netbook is a kind of metal sticker stuck on the touch pad and it can come out easily and again you press it in four corner of the touchpad to use properly, and it cursor act like a 100% drunken mouse.
The screen has a poor quality wave TFT, which gives your eyes a strain and pain, end of the day, you feel like dieing with headache. The sound card drivers are funny and gives you howling sounds. You never cannot get of this unless you mute.
My conclusion is, I never recommend Toshiba to any one, It is just a brand name and very bad products in the market. At last I end up buying one acer and Hp Mini, which I am happy with it.

For me it is a good device, because a need a very portable computer, and it is very good for this. It is not so fast, but it is very good to internet and e-mail and to use microsoft office programs.
I bought a external DVD(Sansung) and it is OK, but I need to download a program to watch DVDs.
Overall it is a very nice netbook.

After a few days of use, here are my thoughts:
Pro:
- Faster than I thought. Very usable for web and about 90+% of the stuff I do on a computer. Actually, a bit faster than my dual core (which is probably suffering from OS decay after several years of use).
- Seems well built.
- Bright screen.
- No fingerprints! Nice matte finish.
- Love the size and portability (true of all netbooks)
- Bloatware and Win7 starter were not as bad as I thought. Easily removed the trialware and have found Win7S to be just fine. Doesn't periodically snap my picture as some have said (maybe they listend and removed that "feature").
- Screen size is not a big problem. 1024 is wide enough (barely) and 600 just requires more scrolling than normal. In my view, worth the tradeoff to get excellent portability.
- Keys have a good feel. Trackpad is huge (but I prefer mice).
Con
- Gets hot when plugged in but runs reasonably cool on batteries.
- Tab key way too small (I use tab a lot)
- Ironically, the keyboard may be too spread out - I often hit the S instead of A key.
Other:
- I purchased the 3 year $59 warranty. Notebooks always break.
- Did not upgrade to 2G RAM - seems to run fine on 1G
- Removed the Norton trialware and downloaded the free Microsoft Security essentials which seems to work beautifully.
Overall, I love the thing. A few quirks but certainly no dealbreakers. I keep a file server in the basement for printing, large storage and backup. Also for burning CDs. The netbook is a great satalite machine sitting on the tableside by the couch.

This netbook is average. The main drawback is a battery life of 7 hours. I expected more (from the specs). I'm running Ubuntu , and even with Ubuntu the battery life is so so. Screen is too glossy, it's basically a mirror in sunlight. Other than those two problems, a great netbook if you don't need more than 7 hours of battery life

Very happy with purchase. I bought this because I needed a portable computer to use around the house. I find myself using it in bed a-lot instead of having to go to the computer room. It's small and compact, I purchased a small mouse to go with it. My husband has used it a few times too because it's so lightweight and simple to pick up and access. The battery life is very long and I only need to plug in overnight so I'm happy with this. I do wish the screen on the computer was bigger, but that was one of the main reasons I purchased this computer I wanted something very small and easy to use.
My husband did not understand why I wanted such this small computer with no DVD burner (or other major features), but now that he sees that I just want to surf the web and check FB and e-mail... he understands. So he's happy that I'm happy. I love when he picks up my computer and uses it sometimes, he's very savvy about computer gadgets so I know he likes my little computer too.
My only complaint is that I did not purchase the pink colored computer... but overall I'm very satisfied with this purchase.
My other complaint is that the computer came with a lot of unnecessary programs that my husband had to uninstall before I started using the computer so it can go faster.
