I have this Lenovo idea pad for a month.I love the multitouch ,is easy to use.I have kiindle for pc so i read ,write,wacht a movie,photos,ect.conecting to internet,with 250 g hdd.
the battery hold for 5 or 6 hours.The only upgrdes from 1 to 2g Ram memory.upgrade to windows 7 ultimate.
my firiend has ipad he can't do 1/2 what a do with my Lenovo

I have been looking at netbooks for a while in order to have something a little more portable than a laptop and more usable than a smartphone for basic e-reading, email, and web browsing. I was close to buying an iPad when I came across the Lenovo S10-3T. After reading the reviews on both products, I opted for the S10-3T as it seemed to have the functionality and expandability of a netbook, but the touch screen capabilities of an iPad. I have been very pleased with my decision and have found this to be the best of both worlds. Below are the pros and cons which are consistent with what I had read in other reviews -- note I gave this a 5-star review because despite a few cons, I believe it to be the best product on the market today. Also, while some reviews have complained about the battery that sticks out, I have found it to be quite handy for holding when in tablet mode.
Pros:
* Touchscreen
* Fast
* Intel platform (can support multiple OSes)
* Expandable - USB (wireless broadband, printer, external drive, etc.), SD Reader, memory
* Near full-size keyboard (for times when you have a bit of typing to do)
Cons:
* Windows 7 Starter -- this is a functional OS and probably could have gotten by with it, but wanted something a little more configurable -- upgraded to Home Premium
* The pre-installed software is more than the configured memory adequately supports -- either remove some of it or add more memory.
* Somewhat heavy for one-handed holding (this is going to be the case of any of these type of devices unless you want just an eReader).

If you are looking to replace your trusty 14" laptop or your workhorse desktop machine, then back away now; this is not the machine that should replace either of those things.
In my particular case, I have a great high-powered desktop that stays anchored in the top floor of my house, and I wanted a new device that would be good for only a few tasks: Email, surfing, videos, and some light office duties. The idea of getting a touchscreen was appealing too, but initially I was more interested in the tablet feature as a way to do all the things I wanted to from the couch. I never once considered a device with no physical keyboard... my hands are just too big to work any on screen keyboard better than a physical one.
Every other review on this machine is correct: you should immediately upgrade the RAM from the stock 1GB to the maximum 2GB. The included applications benefit greatly from the extra memory, the Natural Touch application isn't very impressive until it has enough memory behind it.
Lenovo absolutely should make 2GB standard at this price point, especially since the Atom processor is on the puny side. On the plus side, the hard drive is massive (250GB) and although a lot of the included software should be removed, there are some very useful things (face recognition) bundled into the machine as well.
The other necessary upgrade is Windows 7. Moving from basic to at least Home Premium will allow you to fully enjoy the ability to use the touch screen.
Overall I am impressed with the performance and features on this machine. The processor is fairly weak, but this Netbook will run Visual Studio 2010 surprisingly well... you don't really notice lag unless you are running multiple applications.
Regardless of what the hardware can or can't do, I can honestly say that I enjoy using this computer very much in Netbook and/or tablet modes. The hardware is very high quality, and the device in no way feels cheap or plastic.

I have read many reviews on these netbook/tablets and some very important information is missing in each one and as a set.
Either the graphics subsystem is not detailed and/or the memory upgrade is confusing at best.
1. windows 7 starter only supports 2gb memory and MS says to sell started ed. the netbook has to have 1 gb max installed. At least thats the basis they originally set up.
Memory issues:
2. some netbooks/tablets appear to have on-board memory AND a single slot for upgrading. requiring installing ONLY a 1gb module.
3. some netbooks/tablets appear to ONLY have a single memory slot and require replacing the 1gb ram module with a 2gb module.
4. do some netbooks/tablets have 2 slots for memory?
Complications:
5. Upgrading is required of windows 7 Starter to get Multi-touch on tablets.
6. the Intel Atom N450 supports 64bit. [...]
7. if I upgrade to windows 7 home premium/professional 64bit, can i install and run more than 4gb ram and make these buggers really go???
I would hope someone out there has tried some of these things as it seems silly to upgrade to only 2gb if a larger option is possible.

This is a beautiful little netbook, but it wasn't designed for inking. I should have realized that when I noted that it didn't come with a stylus. But I've only used tablets with capacitive screens before, and didn't realize that resistive screens don't have enough precision to support accurate inking. You can ink with your finger or with a stylus designed for use with an iPhone, but the results are far short of what you get with a true tablet. You could never use the S10-3t for taking notes, for example, because you can only write in large letters and can't really do any sketching.
Others have commented on the bloatware. It is significant on this unit and makes your first few hours with it rather tedious. It's also not easy to decide what you can uninstall without reducing useful functionality, so proceed carefully.
It is also slow to respond to input. This can also be frustrating given the lack of precision on the touch screen. I have found myself touching an icon to open a program, thinking I missed it and touching it again, then ending up with the 3 or 4 copies of the program open--I hit it the first time but it took so long to respond I thought I'd missed it. You get used to this, though. This lack of responsiveness makes the presence of the bloatware even more annoying. And yes, this is even after upgrading to 2 GB ram and Windows 7 Home Premium.
I bought this unit for making presentations when I'm on the road. I like to use a tablet for presentations because PowerPoint allows you to write on the screen while you're talking. This is much better than a laser pointer and allows you to create drawings when answering questions or to circle items for emphasis. It really helps in keeping people's attention.
But this netbook isn't up to the task. The inking capabilities are too crude. I love my HP TouchSmart tx2--just wish it were as light and thin as this S10-3t! Maybe I'll take the Lenovo when I'm not making a presentation and just want to keep up with email, surf the web, and get a little work done on the plane.
